Project Details...

'Pat's Parents' is a children's book highlighting the topic of divorce and separation within families.

I was approached by the author, Sarah Tracey, to design an illustration style that would best help explain the subject matter, be eye-catching, and appeal to the younger audience.

The final illustrations are colorful and front-facing to help establish a connection between the characters and the readers while highlighting the emotions portrayed in the book. The addition of ladybirds and bumblebees emphasizes that Pat is never alone, while also adding an element of fun when trying to spot them on each page.
